Each of the Tibetan agate beads is hand-etched with an organic leaf design. The taupe and black compliment the honey calcite round bead along with hand-carved bauxite trade beads from Africa. The earrings are finished with antique copper and measure 2" in total length.
Agate is found all over the world. The main areas include Africa, Asia, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Nepal, and the USA. Agate is a variety of chalcedony and occurs in many forms. Agates are found in an array of colors, although green and blue are rather rare.

Honey Calcite - Calcite grows wherever water is present.
Calcite can be found in limestone and most seashells. Shellfish (such as oysters) make their shells from Calcite. Calcite itself is clear or white. When it grows with other minerals in the Earth, calcite can become a multitude of colors.

BAUXITE TRADE BEADS- Bauxite is a kind of aluminum ore and is a beautiful dark rusty chestnut color. These wonderful old beads are cut, carved, polished and drilled by hand in Africa. Most of the production of bauxite beads today is in Ghana, African, in a small village called Akyem Abompe. It is a unique center of bead production where practically each family is maintaining themselves through manufacture of beads. The patina of bauxite beads is warm and earthy and the most beautiful are said to be the ones which have been worn for a while and have absorbed natural human oil and sweat.
