Solar System Necklace Kit
Measure the distances of Space!
1 Bead =~20 Million Miles
Hooray! Our Solar System Jewelry series has been featured by The Planetary Society, MAKE: NASA, and NPR's Science Friday!
You are Here!
Build a beaded Solar System demonstrating each planet’s distance from the Sun.
Distances between planet orbits are proportionally accurate,
with each tiny black glass bead representing approximately
~20 million miles / ~32 million kilometers of Space.
Our Solar System Cosmogram Necklace features Stone, Glass, and Shell beads to represent the Sun, Planets, Moons and Asteroid Belt.
Planets, Moons, and Asteroids are enlarged for dramatic emphasis*.

Educational Project Kit contains Stone, Glass, and Shell Beads, Beading Wire, and Clasp.
Printed Paper Pattern includes Written Step-by-step Instructions.
A Solar System Necklace is a great conversation starter,
and a reminder of where we are in the Solar System:
this beadwork project is both an astrometric chart
and a decorative cosmogram,
inspiring thoughts of the vastness of Space.
This Solar System Beadwork Kit includes beads to represent the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, our Moon, Mars, the Asteroid Belt (includes 5 asteroid beads for Ceres, Vesta, or your favorites), Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and the popular controversial dwarf planet Pluto, representing the Kuiper belt. Planets with many moons are noted with opalescent glass beads next to them on the necklace.
Tools Required: Needle nose pliers, wire cutter, household adhesive tape (optional).
*Not for use in actual Space Navigation
