This poncho will surely be a go-to piece for cozy comfort all winter long! If turtlenecks aren’t your thing, you can leave out that step and let the neck roll naturally (see last photo).

This asymmetrical poncho is made up of two rectangles that are seamed together in such a way that when worn, the poncho falls effortlessly and slightly askew for a look of casual comfort.

The main body is knit in stockinette, with the exposed edges designed to use the natural curl of the stockinette instead of fighting it. The turtle neck is knit up separately in the round (pattern suggests just the right stretchy cast on and bind off) in 2x2 rib, on smaller needles to keep it from ending up too bulky.

This pattern is suitable for an adventurous beginner. Skills needed include knit, purl, knitting in the round (for the turtleneck), 3 needle bind off (I include youtube links for the cast on and bind off in the pattern).

Yarn: Kinsey can be knit using fingering weight yarn with 2 strands held together throughout.
Shown in Loops and Threads Woolike, Navy, about 2300-2400 yards/ 4 balls used, or Kinsey can be knit using a single strand of sport/dk weight yarn (as shown in the dark grey) about 1200 yards needed.

Needles: US size 9 (I use circulars to knit flat) for the body pieces and US 5 16" circulars for the neck. Additional needles/DPN will be needed for the neck bind off. May beed to be adjusted depending on yarn used to get gauge.

Finished size: Neck opening is about 22" around, body measures about 30" from neck to longest point when worn.
