It took many moons(ten hours, yup, you heard that right. TEN.) to complete this beautiful sterling silver Byzantine necklace. It started out as a pile of tiny rings...each ring is opened and then closed by hand, woven one-by-one into this gorgeous chain. Once I finished weaving the necklace, I oxidized(darkened) it to bring out the detail in the pattern. Then it was buffed to a high shine on the outside.
This is a delicate necklace(see photo with my hand for size reference), much thinner than most chainmaille I've seen around. The rings are so small, I actually had to get reading glasses to see if I was closing them smoothly! It's 4mm wide, or a bit thinner than 3/16 of an inch. It's solid sterling silver and feels smooth and supple in your hand and draped around your neck. For you detail lovers, the rings I used are 2.75mm ID, and 20 gauge.
I can craft this necklace to any length you would like, standard is 16 inches. There is a $10 charge for each extra inch in length. This piece closes with a petite toggle clasp.
Early this year international shipping prices nearly doubled. If your shipping is much less than what I charged you, I will send you a partial refund. I don't like charging these high prices, but I've needed to do it to cover costs. Thanks for your understanding. :)
