This is a PDF e-pattern - This is not a finished item. As soon as we receive payment, you will receive a confirmation email from Etsy with information on how to download the e-pattern.
Instructions are given to make burlap covers for 4”, 6” and 8” clay pots (the finished covers are a little larger than the pots). The covered pots make wonderful gifts – clay pots can be filled with plants, candy, lollipops, pencils, etc. Instructions are also included for making the covers a little sturdier so they can be used as storage containers without the clay pots inside.
Covers can be made with a single handle like a basket, or handles at the sides, or without handles (handles are for looks only unless they are being used for storage containers with something lightweight inside). Covers can be left plain for an earthy look or instructions are included to appliqué fabric rectangles. Floral fabrics were used for sample appliqués. Holiday fabrics can be used for the appliqués and they will make fun containers or baskets for Halloween, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, etc. Other appliqué ideas would be to print photos on fabric, use chalkboard fabric and write a message, or use a shape like a ladybug, bee or butterfly (patterns for shapes are NOT included). Zig zag stitching was used to sew around sample appliqués or the blanket stitch can be hand embroidered around the edges for a sweet primitive look.
This four page PDF e-pattern includes measurements for cutting burlap covers & appliqué rectangles, detailed materials list, clear instructions written in English, and step-by-step photographs.
