This ancient Rome inspired necklace features a tiny replica of the Bocca Della Verita, or the Mouth of Truth carving, found in Rome, Italy. The Bocca charm is 22k gold plated pewter, and is made in the USA (no lead or nickel). It is hung on a nice quality 14k gold filled delicate chain, finished off with a 14k gold filled spring ring clasp.
The Bocca della Verita charm is about 3/4 in diameter and is a very good replica of the original carving, including the large crack that runs across the carving (the crack in the pendant is of course part of the design and does not go through to the back side). There is a hole through the pendant where the mouth is.
A matching pair of earrings is available, and these are also available in silver. Available here:

MORE INFO ABOUT THE MOUTH OF TRUTH
=======================================
Here’s a little history lesson about the Bocca courtesy of Wikipedia:
La Bocca della Verità (in English, "the Mouth of Truth") is an image, carved from Pavonazzetto marble, of a man-like face, located in the portico of the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome, Italy. The sculpture is thought to be part of a 1st century ancient Roman fountain, or perhaps a manhole cover, portraying one of several possible pagan gods, probably Oceanus. Most Romans believe that the 'Bocca' represents the ancient god of the river Tiber.
The most famous characteristic of the Mouth, however, is its role as a lie detector. Starting from the Middle Ages, it was believed that if one told a lie with one's hand in the mouth of the sculpture, it would be bitten off. The piece was placed in the portico of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin in the 17th century. This church is also home to the supposed relics of Saint Valentine.
