Materials: ostrich egg shell, acrylic stand

This Ostrich Egg was carved with a dolphin leaping out of the ocean. These pictures actually show 3 different eggs that I have carved. There are slight differences in each of them, but the overall effect is equally dramatic.

I used a very high speed drill to carve detail into the egg shell and pierced the shell around the dolphin and waves to give them depth and dimension.

The shine on the egg shell is natural and the lustre will never fade.

The ostrich egg shells come from a farm in South Africa and are unfertilised so no ostrich chicks were harmed when the eggs were gathered.

I have a variety of egg stands for you to chose from. The one shown here is a clear acrylic ring stand favored by the galleries where I show my eggs and is included in the price.

The egg will be sent in a box inside a very sturdy box lined with polystyrene to add strength. I have sent eggs as far away as England so your egg will be safe on its journey to you!

The eggs shown have already been sold but I can carve another one just for you! It may not be exactly the same but will be very similar and carved with the same attention to detail.

Oh gosh, let me tell you the problems that Shirl and I had with this egg. When it arrived it came broken and she started on a new one for me right away. When the second one arrived even worse than the first egg she went right into making yet another egg to ensure that I got what I paid for. The third egg has finally arrived safe and sound and I couldn't be happier. The 5 stars are not only for her work but for her customer service as well.

5 STARS IS NOT ENOUGH... this is such a beauticul carved ostrich egg It is for my brother in Law for Christmas and when I told my sister what I was getting for him she is so anxious to see it..When I told her it was a real ostrich egg she was so excited to see it...but they agreed to wait..she did not tell him what it was so he will really be surprised,,thank you.....Mary D
