The lace I am using on these butter dishes is a very delicate flower and leaf design with a round button handle. The glaze surrounds the lace impressed portion which is stained with an iron oxide solution, bringing out the details of the lace and leaving the brown portion a mat earthy texture.

The flower and leaf designed doily pressed in to the lid of these lovely butter dishes is capped by a "button" handle. My slab technique includes a hand-molded dish bottom and hand-folded dish lid and all the dishes are designed for the standard ¼ lb. stick of butter. They protect the butter inside and out of the refrigerator!
