Children need to be given an opportunity to learn what emotions are, recognize what they are feeling, and understand what choices they can make when they are feeling strong emotions. The “Feelings Thermometer Calm Down Corner” is a great resource you can use with your children to help them.

A calm down corner is a space in your home where a child can go to feel secure and safely deal with strong emotions. This is not a “time-out” corner, but a place for your child to regulate their emotions.
