Composed of the Japanese words oru (to fold) and kami (paper), Origami has a rich and complex history that spans culture, class, and geography.

Modular origami, or unit origami, is a paper folding technique, which uses multiple sheets of paper to create a larger and more complex structure than would be possible using single-piece origami techniques.

Small 30 paper squares of 2” each, were meticulously folded individually into a MODULE, or also called UNIT, and these modules were assembled into a three-dimensional structure by inserting flaps into pockets created by the folding process. In spite of the fact that these insertions create tension or friction that holds the model together, the interlocking pieces were glued together.
