This painting is part of a series called “Flesh and Fabric”, where I have removed the figure from it's traditional figurative environment and focused on what I am really interested in, which is the figure itself.
Looking back at my trajectory, I feel this work has evolved toward simplicity. Without the distractions and limitations of a “place” around the figures, the paintings go straight to the point. The use of fabric was initially an accident, but it’s patterns, textures and infinite possibilities made sense in this mostly feminine environment.
I feel this work is a milestone in a long journey of focus on the essence of what I want to express, the result of letting everything else go so that this essence can reveal itself clearly.
