a pair of boa constrictor ribs have been re-assingned a new identity as sterling earrings. the molding of the real rib captured every small detail of the natural shape and texture of the bones. hand oxidized to achieve a graduated shade of deep gray black to the paleness of the silver with a stain finish.

i've been wearing these earrings nearly every day for a year. i think its about time i shared this treasure.

despite the length, these earrings are surprisingly light weight and have sterling posts. the curve of the rib follows the curve of the face, creating a dynamic look of the ribs against the jaw bone / neck.

inspired by my deep fascination with snakes and their potent ability to seemingly exist between worlds and my interest in rib bones, bones that literally cage and protect the heart.

each rib has a 3 inch drop from post to tip of bone.
