The mary janes are extra thick and sturdy, yet surprisingly light (around 100g per pair) and soft. Slippers are intended to be used indoors and fit more like socks then shoes. If you wish for sturdier and more hard wearing slippers, I recommend adding latex coating to the bottom of your slippers. More details from the link below,

• Washing instruction: Machine wash gentle cycle or hand wash in cold water, Reshape and Air dry
• If you see any loose end while wearing the slippers, simply pull it tight and cut the yarn to hide them in stitches again. I guarantee all ends are weaved in properly.
