Made with a mix of exotic hardwoods, Gabon ebony - Santos mahogany - African Avodire, & Caribbean Rosewood, also known as Chechen, 4 very beautiful, dense & durable exotic hardwoods. No stock photos here...the pick shown is the actual pick you will receive.
This custom handcrafted guitar pick was meticulously crafted with the aforementioned hardwoods, it features a diagonal center strip of jet black Gabon ebony which is flanked by two strips of Santos mahogany, some blonde African avodire strips flank the S.M. which are flanked by a couple of pieces of Caribbean rosewood on the outside edges for a simple yet custom & sleek look. Concave thumb grooves on each side provide a superior grip that enables the guitarist to really explore new highs in guitar playing. This pick measures approx. 1-1/4” or 32 mm long X 1-16" or 27 mm wide, it is about 3 mm thick at the thickest part of the pick, but feels & plays thinner due to the thumb grooves on each side, it tapers down to a thickness of about 1 mm at the durable ebony tip, & was designed with the guitarist in mind for comfort & playability, this pick is treated with a special oil blend, for lasting protection I let the pick soak in the oil to ensure that the pick is deeply penetrated, I then apply a natural bees wax paste & hand rub the pick for a smooth & silky finish, & if you perspire or moisten your finger tips, it will actually improve your grip. It may take a while to get used to playing with a wooden pick, but every guitar player that I know, simply can't live without their hardwood guitar picks. They also make excellent gifts! Thanks for looking!

GABON EBONY - Diospyros Crassiflora
The tree is native to Gabon and grows throughout Southern Nigeria, Cameroon, and Zaire .
Gabon Ebony is said to be "the blackest wood in the world," although it does sometimes contain brown highlights. The wood is quite hard, heavy, and dense, the combination of jet-black appearance and hardness makes it a particular favorite among musical instrument makers , the wood is widely used to make keys for pianos and harpsichords, as well as fingerboards for guitars, violins, cellos, and oboes. Ebony wood has been coveted by wood artisans for literally thousands of years; in fact, some carved pieces have been discovered in Ancient Egyptian tombs. The wood's distinct coloring and ability to polish beautifully have kept it highly sought after through the ages.

SANTOS MAHOGANY - Myroxylon Balsamum
The tree is native to South America & grows in Southern Mexico through Central America to Argentina.
Description: Rich & reddish brown in color, a gorgeous exotic hardwood that is exceptionally fine grained, very hard & extremely stable.

AVODIRE – Turraeanthus Africanus
The tree is native to the Ivory coast area of west Africa. Avodire also grows in Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Gabon, Zaire and Angola.
Avodire is also referred to as Blonde mahogany. It is a rare wood that has many of the same tonal qualities and workability of mahogany, it is credited as being one of the most beautiful of all blonde woods, even the less decorative boards. The light-colored heartwood will darken to a golden color when cut. There is not much difference in color between sapwood and heartwood. It is often highly mottle figured. When polished it has a lustrous surface, also reminiscent of mahogany. The grain is mostly straight but is often wavy or irregularly interlocked, producing a very attractive mottled figure on quartered surfaces and is often termed African Satinwood.

CARIBBEAN ROSEWOOD (CHECHEN) - Metopium Browneii
Tree is Native to Belize / Mexico.
Caribbean Rosewood is one of the world’s most beautiful woods with a rosewood look that offers unique coloration and graining. Although not a true rosewood, Caribbean Rosewood is one wood that rivals the coloration & beauty of any wood, & provides an extreme range of color variability, this wood ranges from cream colored, flame type swirls, on through to gold/orange highlights on top of a medium brown background with black striping. Caribbean Rosewood is a hard & heavy wood, much heavier than oak. A truly beautiful exotic wood.
