The Kaleidoscopic Note Card Collection by visual artist Patricia Youngquist, The Last Leaf Gardener, (www.thelastleafgardener.com) is a limited edition set of prints of original color photographs. This set contains a photograph entitled, "Rocks by Strawberry Fields," and was taken in New York City. These photographs were taken with a modified camera -- a camera without a conventional glass lens where an extremely small whole in a very thin material can focus light by confining all rays from a scene through a single point. The soft tones and unusual colors in this kaleidoscopic image are a result of the artist's unique modifications.

This box set contains eight cards. Each card — reproduced on gallery art paper and paired with a matching gallery art paper envelope — is blank inside, comes individually wrapped in a clear protective cellophane sleeve, and is signed by the artist. These cards are also suitable for framing and make a wonderful holiday gift, either individually, or as a box set. In a digital era where meaningful, intimate conversation is fleeting engage in the art of communication by giving the gift of greeting cards. This is an ideal gift for art lovers. Each card is a great Valentine's Day card, Passover Card, and Easter Card, or the entire set is a great birthday gift.

These cards are about more than communication. In the era of E-Cards, my desire to bring back the practice of sending a paper card, and all the care this artful manner of human connection conveys, is stronger than ever.

As Daniel Okrent states in a November ’09 review of Thomas Mallon's book (Yours Ever, People and Their Letters), “Mallon’s writing about a practice that for at least eight centuries was the primary means of communication between people who happened not to be in the same place at the same time. It was more than just communication, though; it was a form of human conduct enhanced, even exalted, by the demands it imposed on those who practiced it.” Okert explains that Mallon writes, “The small hardships of letter writing — having to think a moment longer before completing utterance; remaining in suspense while awaiting reply; having one’s urgent letters cross in the mail — are the things that enrich it, emotionally and rhetorically... Given the present and future of letter writing, it’s a privilege to be cherished.” ”

Participate in the privilege of letter writing by sending one of these beuatiful greeting cards.
