An old advertisement for this rolling pin reads, "Fill this rolling pin with cold water or cracked ice a few minutes before using to be sure of tender, flaky pie crust and pastries with Roll-Rite rolling pin". The temperature of the water or ice keeps the pie dough from sticking to the pin. It also keeps the butter or shortening in your dough from melting.
The glass rolling pin is in very good condition. It has a few signs or use, but no cracks or chips. Has some minor scratches on the outside.
I have seen this exact rolling pin listed for $75.00! This is a bargain.
