A lovely variety of shades of blue is featured in this gorgeous chain maille pendant. This is a beautiful pendant handcrafted using stainless steel jump rings and glass rings in three shades of transparent sapphire blues. It measures approximately two inches across, and feels somewhat heavy (although it still weighs less than an ounce).

I wanted to create a pendant that used the fabulous colors of glass rings available, but incorporated them into chain maille. I prefer stainless steel rings over aluminum and silver, so the majority of my work uses them. Stainless steel resists tarnishing (unlike silver), and requires only occasional cleaning with mild soap, water, and a soft cloth. It is also much stronger than aluminum and silver, so it is less likely that the rings will become misshapen or bend apart.

Stainless steel is more costly than aluminum or plated rings, but higher quality. It is also more difficult to work with as it does not bend easily.
