I fell under the spell of silver plate and sterling for dining when I was a little girl. I think it began with my Aunt's impeccable collection that ranged from immense dome covers, ornate tea services to fabulous sterling flatware sets, iced tea stirrers and demitasse spoons.
When I got my first apartment I began collecting sterling and silver plate sugar bowls, creamers, flatware, and compotes. Years of collecting resulted in having to find new uses for it all. Teapots now hold hair brushes and lidded sugar bowls hold cotton balls and a small pitcher holds pencils on the desk.
I am like a kid in a candy store when I see a collection of it in an antique store.
We use a simple pattern of 1920's silver plate flatware every day and have three other boxed sets. There is definitely no shortage of utensils around here!
Beach House Living is the home of the original stamped wedding and table flatware and when you purchase from Beach House Living it's more then the completed piece. I'm an avid collector of stuff that I'm not always sure what I will do with it but I enjoy the process of thinking about it. I have notebooks of sketches and plans.
I'm constantly performing R & D especially on my re-imagined items. For every one you see there were plenty that I either didn't like, fell completely short of the vision I dreamed up, or required equipment that wouldn't fit in the house.
I hope one day to have a separate studio overlooking the water.
We reside in a tiny by modern standards 1920's home with our Dachshunds that were all adopted from shelters or rescue agencies. I went looking for a German Shepherd; go figure. I do a fair amount of work by indoor and outdoor fireplaces.There are three different work spaces depending on the project. A secondary building crammed with stuff that I find also houses various saws, grinders, sanders, tools many of which are vintage and still going strong. There is also a tiny bench in the garage and of course the dining room has become more of a crafting area.
My favorite tools are the ones passed down from my father and include anything from hammers, vices, saws, drill bits, and the old grinder. As a child many afternoons were spent watching my father use them. He was ahead of the times in what today is known as recycling. He was always finding novel uses for things or taking things apart and creating something new with them. Old desks became shelves, tool boxes or waste baskets and, a claw foot tub became a lounge....My father still never ceases to amaze me. My Mother has been my creative cheerleader for as long as I can remember. My parents and my sweetheart Robert provide great encouragement and support even to my most out there R & D.

Added for clarity 4-25-12 My husband does help stamp silverware or flatten spoons in preparation of stamping for this shop. I stamp and handle all supplies, materials, photos, listings, polishing, wrapping, and packing for shipping for each item.
