I suppose my love of vintage came from my parents. Having grown up with folks that enjoyed antiquing in New England and then later in the hills of Tennessee and North Carolina, I grew to not only appreciate their acquired pieces, but the history behind them too. My Dad was a History major in college and we still enjoy talking about the old documents, books and items they have stored in the attic waiting to be rediscovered someday... I've called dibs on the Revolutionary War flintlock musket hanging over their fireplace, however, I am pretty sure my brother will be wanting that too!
I found Etsy several years ago when a friend suggested looking at it as I was searching for a unique Mother's Day gift. I was so pleased with what I found, I quickly decided to try my hand at selling some of my vintage finds, after all, my love of vintage had developed into a serious weekend garage sale, estate sale and thrift store habit, and I had to do something with the ever mounting collection...
In the last couple of years, I have been fortunate enough to have acquired many items through helping family members and friends de-clutter. I've also learned a little about social media marketing and low and behold, my sales started going up! Now CampyClassics is a team of three who search out, clean up, photograph and inventory then list items in our shop. It's still mostly me, but I do have a couple of friends who have signed on for "the hunt."
Aside from my store, I have a passion for restoring vintage campers, thus the name, CampyClassics. My other love is Greyhound Rescue. My buddy Pax, seen in the picture with me, brought me several years of pure happiness after his retirement from racing. I can't say enough about how amazing greyhounds are and can fully recommend a greyhound if you are considering getting a family friendly pet. Most large communities have greyhound rescue associations...just do a Google search for "greyhound adoption" and your city. You won't be sorry you did, I promise.
So, that's a little about my journey... If you have any questions, please contact me through the Etsy Conversation portal.
