These cat fountains were inspired, invented sort of, by our cat, Bijou. Keith had an idea for a fountain he wanted but couldn't find anyone to make the vessel. So he took up pottery and began making ceramic fountains and putting them around the house and found Bijou drinking from them far more than he ever used his water bowl.

On a hunch he did a search on 'cat fountains' and learned that cats love moving water and that there is a great need for better feline hydration owing to the fact that many cats don't like standing water and don't drink enough. Here is what he discovered and what every pet owner should know about pet fountains.

Cats and other pets do not need or want refrigerated water but they do like cool water and they like it to be well oxygenated. And cats especially like the water to be moving, not still.

Many cats do not like and all can be harmed by plastic pet drinking fountains from two effects. The BPA in plastic is known to be harmful to pets (and us), often causing chin acne in cats, and plastic scratches and harbors harmful bacteria causing an array of ailments.

Certified food-safe ceramic fountains are known to be the absolute best you can give your pet, and here is why:

Ceramic pet fountains keep the water cooler and fresher.
Ceramic cat fountains don't scratch
Ceramic cat fountains don't harbor bacteria
They are very easy to clean

Your cat may not care about this but our ceramic cat fountains are infinitely better looking than mass produced cat fountains. And maybe your cat does care about that.

Our cat fountains are made from certified, tested and proven food safe materials. Ceramic cat fountains from China are not.

It took five years of research, experiment, development and refinement to create a ceramic fountain with a silent pump that allows the pump cord to exit through the bottom of the bowl rather than over the top in an unsightly manner, as is done with so many other fountain makes - AND YET THE PUMP IS REMOVABLE!

We use a custom designed system with materials we have developed and create (our pumps are very well made and we have replaced very few to date.)

An explanation of the enameled waterflowers: ENAMEL IS LEAD-FREE GLASS FUSED TO METAL. It is essentially the same material as a glaze. In our fountains, the metal is copper and the powdered glass is fused to it at 1500 degrees F.) Keith uses medium gauge copper to make the flowers and leaves, and several coats of enamel and we select or create the enamel color to harmonize with the fountain.

We sometimes get questions about the use of copper in our fountains - is it safe? Not only is it safe, it is beneficial. Copper as a delivery material for water actually inhibits bacterial growth and does not corrode. When we attach a 'waterflower' or 'waterleaf' to a copper stem only lead-free solder is used. These fountains are designed to help you maintain your cats' health while giving you something enjoyable to see and hear.
