Welcome!! My name is Heather Sakall and I am the GirlGoneLoopy. I am a ::mumble.age:: former punk and I have been crafty all of my life. My hands and mind are always busy, I can’t even watch a movie without something in my hands. I often refer to myself as “terminally crafty”…some day it will kill me, I’m sure!

I started to seriously focus my crafting in my mid-teens when a cousin put seed beads in my hands. I did beadwork, almost exclusively, for 15 years… In 2006, however, beadwork took second seat…I had discovered knitting.

In March of 2006, my Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and came to live with me and my husband while she had chemo and radiation treatments. I needed something more portable than tiny seed beads to take with me to her numerous doctor appointments and treatments. I had always wanted to knit and decided that this was a good a time as any.

I picked up a skein of the acrylic yarn beloved by many a Granny and a pair of needles…hit the library to check out a few knitting-know-how’s…a few hours later…. BAM!!!! I think I heard a choir of angels singing when that first good row of stitching happened…or on second thought, it may have been demons and they were probably laughing at me… Hmmm… ::shrug:: Anyway, soon, I was stitching away and I never looked back!! Now, the most beadwork I do is my stitch markers!!
Aside from knitting and beadwork, I also enjoy crochet, spinning, weaving, sewing and last, but not least, dyeing yarn!!

I started dyeing yarn and fiber a little less than a year after I started knitting…it just seemed a natural progression for me. I love color, the combining of color and have spent a few years swapping and gifting my hand-dyed goods. I have finally let everyone’s encouragement to open shop get the best of me! I am so happy creating my own colorways, it is just such an amazing thing to see how each one knits up. I am so excited for this opportunity to share it with you!!

I am inspired by so many things; nature, foods, artwork, fabrics, greeting cards… There isn’t much that I can’t look at without being able to pull a colorway out of it!! My husband even chooses the greeting cards and flowers he gives me by whether or not he thinks the colors would make a good yarn!!! He’s cool like that, I’ll keep him.
