Born and still live in Portland, Oregon. Raised in a family of artists. Trained in the fine arts. Worked as an illustrator for years and became interested in jewelry and small sculpture for added dimension to my designs. Started working in metal and polymer clay in the late 80's. Designing jewelry with metal, polymer clay, and other mixed media became a way to continue sculpting in a smaller format and explore my lifelong fascination with beads. Won three Saul Bell Design competitions, and other numerous awards. Have contributed to many art and craft books, taught classes, and shown in various galleries and museums.

Combining different media of varied value, lots of color, and different emotional connections into a piece that resonates to the viewer is my goal. Using old and new, expensive and cheap, silly or dark, hopefully forms complex layers of meaning and value.

I live, outnumbered, with my musician husband, and two wild boys. I'm lucky to have two studios on an acre of land, across from a state park. One is my "treehouse" studio, cantilevered out high above, with three walls of windows. The other has high ceilings and is shared with multiple bands. I call it my NY loft studio. Our land is host to abundant flora and fauna, inspiring my ongoing woodland collections and series.

I love to design and make things. I want to make people happy, feel beautiful, and interesting when they wear my pieces. I love what I do and I do what I love. Thank you to all who support my passions!
