*****BIOGRAPHY***** I studied Graphic Arts at Winthrop University and Fine Arts at Clemson University. I tried everything from pottery to welding. After college I took one stained glass class and that's all it took. I had found my niche! I loved how the colors of glass interacted with one another in the sunlight.
You will often find me gallivanting on the east coast selling my work at music and art festivals. I have been creating stained glass artwork since 2000, and my work is constantly evolving into new 3-dimensional forms. Thanks to the wonderful friends I have met on the road! No two pieces are exactly alike, which is what makes them so unique. I am excited to see the revival of an old handcraft being taken to new levels!
*****HOW TO DISPLAY 3-D GLASS***** I realize it can be a bit tricky trying to figure out how to display a 3-dimensional stained glass piece. The key is to hang it in sunlight, because that is what really brings them to life! Here are a few ideas:
-Over a kitchen sink -In a sunroom -Beneath a ceiling fan (really pretty to watch as it spins in the breeze) -On a covered porch -In a bay window -Over a bar -In front of a window
I also recommend using a plant hanger, because they extend from the wall about 6". They are inexpensive and come in a variety of decorative styles. Display it in front of a window and watch the colors dance in the sunlight!
*****STAINED GLASS PROCESS***** I know alot of people are curious about the process of creating stained glass pieces. It is quite involved, but I love what I do! First, I start by creating a design and hand cutting it out of several sheets of glass. Then I smooth the edges of the glass with a glass grinder. Then I wrap each piece with a copper foil tape, which is what the solder adheres to. Now for the fun part! I solder each piece together with a soldering iron, and add the decorative wire detail. This is when the piece really comes to life. Finally I clean and polish the piece to help prevent against tarnishing. I'd have to say that putting together the various color combinations is my favorite part of the whole process, and grinding is my least favorite.
*****GREEN SHIPPING!***** I am now shipping my pieces using biodegradable packing peanuts!
I take great care in packaging each order to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. I usually ship items within 48 hours, and include delivery confirmation with each order.
