About

My Blog, 'Life in LooLoo's Box: http://looloosbox.blogspot.com/

My name is Robin Delargy, and I was one of those kids who drew on the walls. Inspired by nearly all I see, I am exploring, discovering and learning, striving to translate my world into this incredibly complex visual, wearable language: JEWELRY.

Art jewelry, silver jewelry, gemstone jewelry, Steampunk jewelry, Victorian jewelry - whatever flavor you prefer, the making and wearing of it is hugely self-expressive. Jewelry is personal.

I craft many of my components such as bails, headpins, hook & eye clasps and ear wires by hand, starting with bare metal wire. Other processes I employ include cold-forging, soldering, fusing, hammering - really, just about any way that one can shape and texture wire is represented. I also work with Art Clay Silver, which is one brand of...

Favorite materials

Watchworks, old brass, keys, I love bringing new life to old things that have lost their purpose, I also love silver, silver and more silver, and silver, and other metals, and pretty rocks, and pretty much anything shiny, and other shinies, and I wish I was able to punctuate this properly, oh well

LOOLOO'S STORY

LooLoo was Robin's childhood cat. A very fat white aesthetically-challenged cat. An ugly neutered MALE cat. His name was actually Casper, but we all called him LooLoo. The name was descriptive, you see... "he's a looloo", as in "he's one strange cat". He wasn't pretty but he had a fabulously funny personality, including a fetish for all things sparkly. Especially jewelry. He was quite an accomplished cat burglar. He would have loved what we're up to these days and would be stealing wire scraps and shiny bits. And earrings. He is missed.

LooLoo used to stash his treasures behind the family room sofa until a shoe box was left lying at the end of the couch and he promptly began putting his treasures in it. He was then given an attractive wood wine box with a pillow in it which served him well until the end of his days. Yes, he curled up with his treasures, purred over them, slept amongst them. He was LooLoo, and he was magnificent.

When jewelry went missing (once, even Mom's wedding ring!) we knew right where to look; in the family treasure chest - LooLoo's Box.
