Me? Aside from the fact that I cannot get my profile pic turned - LOL! In a nutshell I'm a fabric hoarder at heart:) There will never be enough time for me to use all that I own in my personal stash. So since I cannot justify buying more for myself I have this wonderful little shop where I can still buy the fabric and play with it and make a little money in the process. Perfect deal!
I pretty much buy what I love. I have a thing for Halloween and I love some beautiful blenders from In the Beginning, Wilmington, and of course Moda Grunge. The occasional more traditional styles will pop up now and then when I cannot resist. Andover and Marcus are my favs there.
I also do custom T-shirt quilts; an endeavor that has spiraled a bit out of control unexpectedly. But it is good and I still enjoy it. My goal is to shift back to making and selling quilts which is how I started. I love to get into the studio free to make whatever I want.
A little of my history - I'm a highly overeducated quilter:) I have a Bachelor's in Psychology and Speech Communication Disorders and a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy at which I worked for 10 years. I loved many aspects of this but I'm not cut out to deal with administrations, insurance companies, and people who go out of their way to make life difficult for others. The patients I miss, the science I miss. But working for myself fits and I'm grateful that I was able to make the transition.
My daughter was 4 when I quit PT. We moved to Iowa (home) and I homeschooled her and worked just a little quilting for others for spending money. My baby is 24 now and works for Nationwide Insurance as a claims adjustor.
My husband passed away in March of 2022 - obviously that caused a bit of spiraling in our lives. The business was maintained by an employee who kept orders rolling when I couldn't. Life has settled down now and I am regaining control of the studio again. It's just me now with the occasional assistance from a friend who has the same fabric obsessions:) I travel often now so I'm grateful for her!
You will see that my shipping policies state that I will ship within 1-3 working days. I have learned that I absolutely cannot be a slave to my studio and business (I have tried). Working for yourself can consume every second and life is far to important to allow that. I have to carve out time for my life - friends, hobbies, running, yoga, cross fit. I have learned that there are very few true "fabric crises":) Most of us simply will not die if we don't get our fabric the very next day. That may seem like sacrilege to some of you but at 59 years old I have a new and improved perspective:) I do expedite shipping whenever asked if it is possible.
Well if you made it this far I'm impressed:) I will hush now - you know the basics about me. I hope you enjoy the fabrics I've selected and love. Let me know if I can help you in any way. Happy sewing to all!
Oh - I love when you share your finished projects:) If you will allow it I'd love to post them on my Facebook page.
