Our Story

Pip Robins Accessories is a leather goods and accessories company based in Toronto, Canada, founded in 2009 by self-taught designer and artisan Gillian Hyde. Inspired by the intrinsic beauty of natural materials and classic, utilitarian designs, Hyde handcrafts every Pip Robins accessory from start to finish, using only the highest quality materials and traditional leatherworking techniques and tools.


Design Philosophy

Whether we’re hammering rivets, cutting leather, or intuitively reworking a one-of-a-kind WWII-era military duffel, every Pip Robins product is designed and fabricated by hand for a lifetime of functionality, comfort, and style. From the length of our tote bag straps to the just-right depth of the slip pockets on our cross-body bags, Pip Robins is passionately committed to creating long-lasting, timeless goods that make day to day life a little easier – and more beautiful.


Our Process + Materials

All of Pip Robins’ accessories are handcrafted in small batches with the utmost care and attention to detail. We always double-stitch seams for extra strength and durability; we source and utilize only the best textiles, hides, and hardware to ensure that our goods hold up to the wear and tear of daily life, season after season.

Waxed canvas is a durable, traditionally crafted, water resistant fabric that develops a gorgeous patina with repeated use and gradually takes on its own individual character. Pip Robins uses waxed canvas from a US manufacturer that has been operating since the 1800s.

Full grain leather is thick and hardwearing, a natural choice for bags that get used frequently. We love the subtle differences that make each full grain leather hide unique and use every inch available to craft our bags and small leather goods.

Reclaimed military textiles are the backbone of Pip Robins’ Rare and Salvaged line, a special collection of one-of-a-kind pieces designed to highlight each textile’s distinctive characteristics and history. In keeping with our ethos of sustainability, we repurpose everything from duffle bag grommets to worn-in leather buckles, incorporating each original design element into a new and arrestingly unique final product.
