FoxAndClover's Profile

Bio

Hi, my name is Sabrina and Fox & Clover is my studio. I create graphic works of glass that combine modern design with natural, wild imagery.

I started working in traditional stained glass during a yearlong apprentice-style education in Paris, France in 2005. Here I learned the nearly-forgotten art of medieval kiln-fired glass enameling, where enamels are hand-painted onto glass then fired at 1300 degrees in a kiln. In 2007 I began to adapt glass enameling to dishware and jewelry. I discovered that this ancient technique fits gracefully into modern décor.

I have a strong interest in sustainable design. My dishware and jewelry is made of 100% reclaimed sheet glass. My dishware is made of discarded windows, and my jewelry is made of discarded picture frame glass. Unlike glass bottles, both these forms of sheet glass are not recycled by most municipal recycling programs and otherwise ends up in landfills.

My interest in nature comes from my childhood in Minnesota’s beautiful St. Croix river valley, where fireflies, beavers, oaks and owls were the backdrop of my daily life. Now I live in Seattle, a city with stunning natural surroundings. At my studio I invent new ways to present nature through modern enameled glass.
