Fig Leaves Pads began in 2013 when I went on a mission to create what I deemed the perfect pad. I was working long hours in the food service industry and had switched to reusable pads a year or two prior.

I had a degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising, but had developed a distaste for aspects of the industry soon after entering it. So, I decided to put my sewing skills and knowledge of fabrics to use in a different way. I created a thin, absorbent pad that was discreet under my clothes and able to stand up to my active lifestyle...all while staying in place! In a little apartment in Queens between shifts, Fig Leaves Pads was born.

I absolutely love sewing pads and have so much fun picking out fabrics and even choosing snaps to go with the pad! I see each pad as an opportunity to brighten someone's day, by giving them comfort during a physically uncomfortable time, while helping the earth.

Through the years, I have improved upon those first pads I created, integrating new textiles as advances in waterproof and eco-conscious fabrics were made.

Figgies are still just as fun to look at as they ever were, but now, they’re made without polyester fabrics, they’re more breathable, they’re waterproof, and they don’t contribute to the issue of micro plastic shedding into our water ways.
