I've been creating wire-wrapped semi-precious jewelry since 2001, and I opened this shop selling that jewelry in 2008. Once in a while I'd make wire-wrapped crystal prism sun catchers as gifts for friends and family members, etc..
When I began learning new techniques for my jewelry designs, I carried them over to my sun catchers. I found that I really enjoyed making them, so I decided to add them to my shop. Well, guess what? They started selling better than my jewelry pieces ever had!
I began working with copper and brass, learning even more techniques, and I just fell in love with the process. Copper is such a magical metal!
Eventually, I gave up working on jewelry and focused exclusively on the sun catchers. I never have a shortage of inspiration for new designs and ideas, especially in nature!
Each sun catcher is handcrafted by me. I design, cut, texture hammer, shape and patina/flame finish the copper or brass.
Crystal prisms and Swarovski beads and drops are incorporated in all the pieces. Some feature semi-precious stones, raw quartz points, seashells, etc..
The sun catchers create spectacular rainbows when hung near a sunny window, and they look beautiful hanging in a garden!
