I am from a small farming community in west central Ohio. I grew up loving to "make things", and reading books about "the old days" Those interests have developed over the last 20 years into a love for collecting old stuff, and remaking things into primitive farmhouse decor! What started as "making do", trying to decorate a large home on almost no money, led me to exercise my creativity and learn that sometimes imperfect is actually perfect. I also learned how comfortable and welcoming a home full of handmade and vintage items can be. I look for things that no one else has. When you shop at Sweet Liberty Barn, those are the types of things you will find...nothing is mass produced, and 99% of my items are one of a kind, and can't and won't ever be duplicated. I make things one at a time, using repurposed items as often as possible, and knowing when to leave a vintage item alone.

I work in a the upstairs of our 1930 Stone Cottage style home Many of my supplies are housed in huge old cupboards, vintage dressers, old wood boxes and wood and tin picnic baskets. I work at an antique oak library table that I fell in love with at the flea market. I will take old over new anyday, I feel it is the ultimate form of recycling, and these antiques which were made by hand are better quality than many items made today, and will never go out of style. They are also versatile, can be moved easily from room to room, and used for a variety of purposes.

I also own 2 shops in Bellefontaine Ohio. Nest1896 llc at 204 W Columbus Ave is a three story former general store with 79 vendors selling vintage, handmade and locally made decor, jewelry, collectibles, food items, bath and body and more, including boutique clothing and decor. Twig&Feather is at 130 S Main St and is a boutique for women and babies.
