My shop started years ago as a hobby. I wanted to learn to sew (more than a button onto pants) and a friend taught me. I started with a borrowed, very old, sewing machine and some fabric to practice on and got down to it. Before I knew it I was obsessed! I was surprised to discover that I have a love of fabrics and creating. I was also relieved to discover that I had a talent:) I have a fabric stash that would rival a lot of fabric stores and have notebooks filled with ideas for future designs that I'll probably never get too! My hands just can't keep up with my mind!

Anyway, a short time later I purchased my first sewing/embroidery machine and started making and listing bags on Ebay. A few years later, in 2008, I started up the shop, Doodlescoot Designs, here on Etsy and everything just took off. I've been going strong since and loving every minute of it! The first part of the shop name is a combination of the nicknames that my mother gave my two sons. It's a bit long and a bit silly but I never fail to smile when I hear it:)

I can't follow a bought pattern to save my life so I make my own patterns. My person taste leans towards the clean, simple and classic but I do try to add items that would please different tastes. Each style of bag is one that I have made and used myself. If I wouldn't use it or give it as a gift I refuse to sell it!

Thru my shop here on Etsy I've also discovered a love of buying things that are handmade. I feel better about purchasing items that someone here in the U.S.A. has made. I also love feeling that I am helping some other person out there support their family!
