I discovered the delights of lavender about 20 years ago when I came upon an old velvet sachet at a flea market. It sparked an idea that I could make sachets as gifts, and since that time I've made an untold number of them in many shapes and sizes - strawberries, birds, hearts, fish, and of course a simple square. I love beautiful fabrics, in particular antique textiles, so I visit our local flea markets often in search of them. It's a wonderful thing to give new life to the vintage fabrics I find so they can be cherished again, and a lavender sachet is just one charming way of bringing that repurposed beauty back into someone's home.

Everything at Leaf and Lavender is made in a lovely studio in a home on a hill above the coast of Southern California. This room is filled with shelves holding old linens, baskets of sachets, and books. There are three sewing machines and a table that's usually covered with projects in the works. It's never the tidiest studio around - creativity is often messy!

But it's not only lavender that I play with, I simply like making things. This small shop of mine will have a happy variety of inventory, including original oil paintings, garden art, pin cushions, and seasonal items. Always handmade.
