After the recession hit in 2009, Ben and I were left with no work and expecting our first child. We scrapped together what little we could and started a small shop on etsy. The day we registered as a business with city hall, we happened to find a trashbag filled with crayons from a daycare closing down. Thinking we would keep it for our own child, we played around with ideas on how to reuse the crayons and created our Kitty Egg Crayons in process.
We had no idea that a year later we would be remelting crayons by the thousands to create our little egg shaped kitties for you!

After a few years of improving our product and process, we learned about the mystery ingredients in name brand crayons, namely petroleum, a by-product of oil. Not wanting to support this industry, we spent another year of research and development to formulate a crayon that would be just as vibrant and smooth as the crayons we were already making.

In 2011 you helped us raise $7K to fund our all natural soy and beeswax kitty egg crayons. We redesigned our packaging and hired help to bring our crayons to a professional quality.

Thank you so much for all of your support and enthusiasm. We have met many of you at craft shows and even at our local park while our kids played together. We feel so truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to start and grow our own business- all while raising our children from home.

In 2014 we found our small family to a size of five with the addition of baby Noah and Grampa. Even with hired help, it has become difficult to keep up with business demands.
