LAMPWORK GLASS WORKER - from Squamish, in the BC Coastal Mountain range. I grew up on the West Coast and have been indelibly influenced by local Tribal art and designs.
In my work I try to emulate the flow and gentle spirit of my homeland, and imbue the shades and tones of this incredible coastal rain forest.
From the steel blues of the tempestuous ocean storms, to the verdun greens of cedars, the deep purples of starfish, the iron rusts of shale slopes and the purest white of our Mountain peaks, the various spirits take hold.
I have been working with glass since about 1996 and wish I had found this medium earlier in my artistic travels. Glass has captured my heart, my soul and my love in its various qualities. From its high gloss liquid like sheen, to etched stone smoothness, in to carved ground & cut glass, I have dived. And I swim and relish its nature and adaptability.
I am loving my continuing exploration of glass and other mediums that loan themselves to compliment, enhance and empower the glass further. These are so many avenues to travel in this journey, time of which sadly restricts.
So I am off to the studio where I can be found elbow deep in something exciting.
