Announcement
Working on a new design featuring the manatees of Florida, requested by a friend/customer who has been asking for over a year. It was the thought of painting a manatee that held me back....plus several family health crises.
I hand painted the manatees, and then used some thermo fax screens I had created over the years for my ocean themed t-shirts. As I worked on my first manatee designs I realized I needed to do some research on their habitat and some of my thermo fax screens weren't the best choice to complement this design. So as with many designs it will probably evolve. Check back later this week to see the first manatee shirts. I am excited to see what you think.
This is not a silk screen process where once I make the screen I can just keep printing the same design over and over. It is really a one at a time t-shirt process. I start by drawing my idea or design onto freezer paper, next I cut out all of the parts and pieces and iron them onto the black t-shirt. Check out the black t-shirt with the white freezer paper design, raven and branches on the front page of my shop. The parts that are black when you see a t-shirt posted are where the freezer paper protected the t-shirt from the discharge process. After discharging the t-shirt which is done in a variety of ways, I peel off the freezer paper, and through it away. The process ruins the freezer paper so each time I make even the same idea I have to start from the beginning. Anyway after I peel off the freezer paper, I then wash the t-shirt. Now I am ready to add some color back into the shirt. After the dyed part cures for 24 plus hours I am ready to wash the t-shirt a couple of times to take out the excess dyes. Now I am ready to post it for your viewing pleasure. So as you can see lots of love goes into each item.'o)

5 out of 5 starsI adore this shirt! It is perfect in every way - beautiful, soft, vibrant colors, and obviously one of a kind. My husband thought it was designed specifically for me because it looks so much like our ginger cat who likes to lounge in our backyard while the crows fly around, waiting for me to feed them. It was shipped out right away, and Ricky (owner) kept me updated every step of the way. She is one of the best people you’ll find on Etsy or anywhere else when it comes to making sure her customers are happy. This is my second purchase from Artrageous Wearables, and I guarantee it won’t be my last!

McKenzie, my daughter, had the tech skills to get our shop up and running. She moved to Andorra last September to teach English to teenagers and adults . She is missed, but I am excited that she is following her dream.
