A few years ago work was stressy, it was raining a lot and I needed a creative outlet! My daughter told me about Etsy and we rushed straight into creating a shop, giving it a name and ... had nothing to sell! So. I took a step back and worked out what I wanted to make, and what I thought other folk would really love to buy.

I grew up in a sewing household - my mum and my grandmother are both experts at needlework, knitting, sewing and crafting in general. Both my daughters have been brought up in the same environment - we have bags and baskets full of material, wool, fabrics, bits and bobs - lots of things that 'will come in useful'.

So, after a couple of months making things, getting the look and feel right, and most importantly getting the quality right, I approached the nice people at Etsy to ask if we could change our hastily chosen original name and re launch as Bobbin Rose!

My eldest daughter designed the shop banner and logo and we took some photos, listed them and...hey, people like my things! Since then, I've had some lovely customers. I work really hard to make sure the things I sell are well made and crafted. I'm obsessive about buttons - they have to be right, and I work hard to make sure my pattern placements look right too. I love posting things out and package my things in the best protective way I can.

I've also changed jobs since launching on Etsy and really enjoy my work now. Maybe Etsy was the catalyst? And who knows where I'll go with Bobbin Rose next...
