In my mind I revisit two images that seem to have made a lasting impression. The first was an image of a model in a fashion magazine on a motorcycle, wearing a white tee, black leather pants and immersed in strands of pearls. The second image is, the scene in the Madonna film “Truth or Dare” where she’s at a Chanel store trying on a large pair of pearl earrings and someone tells her: “They make you look beautiful”, Madonna then answered: “Earrings don't make people look beautiful. Money makes people look beautiful.” I’m quite certain that this is a contrived statement as well as highly inaccurate. I thought it obvious to all that it is the pearls that make us beautiful:)

My love affair with pearls began early. Whether I was buying fresh water pearl ankle bracelets as a young girl, wrapping long strands around my wrist, or making large pearl earrings out of broken costume jewelry, I realized early on that something magical happened when I put them on, they made me feel pretty. Whether it’s their soft focused luster or their feminine appeal, there is just something delightful that happens. For those of you who have experienced this phenomenon you are probably smiling now and nodding your heads.

From my very first jewelry collection (Holiday 1998/1999) I always dedicated a (large or sometimes smaller) segment to pearls in an array of colors. When I showed my collections at ENK’s AccessorrieCircuit (trade show) in NYC I would often hear buyers say: “On you do a bridal collection”. At first I was surprised to hear this and although this was not my intention, I came to realize that pearls often carry a stigma as being bridal. Imagine, only being able to wear them on only your wedding day, the thought makes me cringe. On the flip side my pearl collections have earned me extensive bridal press (see link below)

Now, years later having not much has changed my love of pearls is still going strong. However, I hope that after all these years I can bring a fresh new way to look and use pearls, on there own as the main ingredient, or mixed unexpectedly accenting other materials. And although this shop is dedicated to brides, I hope that each piece I create is a timeless treasure you will love & enjoy for a lifetime.
