I grew up with a love of knitting, taught to me by my dear Mother back in the days when there was no TV to watch, computers, I-pads or smart phones.
Passing the time in the evenings meant listening to the radio, reading, playing board games and in the long summer nights, taking our dog and going for walks across the English countryside around our home, one of the things I truly miss.
But mostly, especially during the dark winters, I knit.

Like most, my first knitted item was a dishcloth, made with a hard wearing scratchy cotton yarn.

I remember when I was about thirteen, I knitted myself a dark blue and white fair isle cardigan in my school colours. I thought it turned out rather well and was quite proud of my accomplishment and, looking back, my patience LOL!

I was taught by my Grandmother and my Auntie Doll, the basics of crochet, but it wasn't until after I was married and I saw this pretty tablecloth in a craft magazine.
It was crocheted in squares and crocheted together.
There was a picture of the individual square and I looked at it and thought to myself, "I could do that".
So I did!
I made a small tablecloth, which I still have and use occasionally,usually at Christmas.

As I live in Florida (not much call for handknits there), I started my Etsy shop as a means of doing what I love.
I am an outdoors person at heart who loves to garden, go for walks and sit outside to do my craft when weather permits, but in summer, heat and humidity force me to work indoors in the AC. usually in our sunroom or while watching TV.

I believe Etsy buyers understand the time and care (and yes, sometimes patience when working out a pattern) that is required in the making of a unique handmade item.
Whether it is for themselves or as a gift, they appreciate and love having or giving an item that cannot be found in any store anywhere.
And I love making it for them.
