I live in Uruguay, a country that was a "melting pot" at the beginning of the 20th. Century. The immigrants arrived mainly from Spain and Italy but also from the rest of Europe. They brought their most loved possessions and, those that were able to make a better living, continued bringing goods from Europe. As a result, we now have many beautiful vintage items.
I am originally from Montevideo but I moved to Punta del Este. My studio is now a "room with a view. From my window I see the Isla de Lobos, a nature reserve that has the largest colony of sea lions in the western hemisphere (in 2005 there were 250,000 sea lions of the species called "two hairs" and 1,500 of the species known as the "wig"). The lazy ones are at the port hoping to get a snack from the fishermen.
Searching for vintage prints is a joy. I love the hunting but also searching and researching to know as much as possible about them. I wonder through street markets, used books stores and antiquarian bookstores. Most of the times the books are incomplete or with a serious flaw but I am able to recover the prints.
I worked most of my life as a librarian. Having a shop is a completely new experience for me and I am enjoying it. What began as something new and different to do has evolved practically to a full time job.
I only sell items that I like (or should I say love?). I hope you enjoy browsing my store.
