Making Giant Yarns is a slow process that involves lots of hands on work. With the help of "Big Betty" our huge carder, we create Chunky Stitch Yarns. Betty is over 7 feet tall and more than 600 pounds. She is truly the workhorse of the mill.

All the yarns are made by our Fiber Artist, Doug, or myself. I'm Ingrid and have been working with yarn, fiber and fiber animals most of my life. Buying a fiber mill was a natural progression after leaving farm life where we raised alpacas for 15 years. The years of training I received to learn about natural fibers and the animals they come from have helped immensely in creating fabulous yarns. Doug and I love what we do. The work is very physical, creative and rewarding.

Why do our yarns feel so amazing? We use high quality extremely soft merino to create our Chunky Stitch yarns. The merino is commercially graded as 21 microns. What does this mean? We know that we are buying only high quality fine wool from our supplier. It ensures the yarns we create will be consistent in fineness and quality. The merino is also commercially dyed which gives our yarns deep rich colors.
