Like many of you, I have been drawn to jewelry since I was a little girl. From playing with my great aunt’s costume jewelry, to receiving gifts from family members, to celebrating my marriage to my soulmate, jewelry has marked important moments in my life. Each piece holds a memory that I get to revisit when I wear what I have been gifted.
I started taking metalworking classes at a local Seattle studio about five years ago and was immediately hooked. I found it incredibly satisfying to create little pieces of art that could be worn. Over time, my hobby became my habit and I started giving jewelry to family and friends, who in turn starting requesting more pieces for their families and friends. And so a small, independent business was born…
As I design and create my work, I draw inspiration from formal studies in geology, anthropology, pottery and metalworking, adventures in travel and, most importantly, the raw beauty of the natural world. I am fascinated by the power of the earth’s natural forces – creative and destructive - and use them as a guiding design principle. I believe the way a piece feels - the weight, the texture - is equally important as how it looks to the person who chooses to wear it.
I create all of my jewelry in my home studio in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, where I live with my amazing husband, Rylan, and our owl-eyed polydactyl cat, Lucilles.
