Announcement I am planning to phase out jewelry over the next few months. I am rotating sales, alternating between different groups of listings. I am also accepting offers on no-sale items. It's not that I am tired of making jewelry! I love it and it has been a pleasure and privelege to serve my customers all these years. But I want to try other forms of creativity-painting, more felting, etc. And jewelry-making is very time-consuming, especially when you are semi-addicted to beads and the process of hunting for them. If I don't stop, I am afraid I will never get to other things.

Welcome! My jewelry is inspired by my love of the ocean (you'll see shells, coral, and lots of blues and greens) and also by my appreciation for the vibrant colors and bold designs of ethnic beads. And now and then, I like to put down the beads and pick up some soft merino wool . . .

This necklace came back to me after a custom repair. The scratchy wire on the end was removed, the strand was lengthened by finding similar beads and adding brass elongated beads, long enough that the clasp could be removed for over the head application. Couldn’t be happier. Beads like this irreplaceable.

You won’t find another millefiori strand this nice on Etsy. I had a little trouble with a metal edge on the clasp scratching my neck. And when I sent it back to the vendor, she completely revised the necklace by removing all linkage, and finding similar beads to add enough length to put on over my head. Using 2 solid brass beads, she even replaced 2 beads that were losing their finish from sweat, at no charge for labor and shipping. Notice the difference from the original listing photo. You can hardly tell the revision. Many thanks for my favorite “go-to” necklace.

Making Things Makes Joy

To me, beading is an almost meditative process. It starts with the inspiration of a particular bead-its color, shape, or perhaps its history: where and when it was made and how it was used--to celebrate a wedding, perhaps, or protect against evil spirits. Then there is the process of exploring what other beads will "sing" with the first, make a harmony. Sometimes a design just comes together, almost on its own; other times, it's a more deliberate process of trial and error.

I always aspire to make pieces that will bring joy to those who wear them. I have done a number of custom pieces and really enjoyed collaborating with the customers to make something that reflects their personality. I LOVE searching for unusual stones and beads. I don't want to make jewelry that looks like everyone else's or follows any particular trends. I want to make jewelry that is beautiful and distinct, so when you buy something from my shop, it will truly be one of a kind.

Strength and durability matter to me. I use the best materials I can afford--49 strand nylon coated steel beading wire for strength and flexibility and sterling, gold-filled, or copper crimps. Those tiny beads are the only thing that keeps a necklace together, and the solid metals just do a better job of that than the alloys.

I hope my customers will be very happy with the pieces they purchase but I want to know if they're not--and how I can help.

I only started crafting seriously (although it feels more like play) about 6 years ago. I didn't start out making jewelry, but with driftwood arrangements and needle felting. Then I gradually got drawn into the world of beads and fell in love!
