ChristopherModern is a Muse. Nothing more, nothing less...albeit a somewhat itinerant muse as of late! Muse are fickle though and in reality what CM has become is a physical manifestation of an attempted answer to the question, "What do you love?"
As most Etsy shop owners will attest, answering this question occupied, and often still demands, a good deal of our waking and slumbering minds every day. And like our fickle Muse, with every failure and every success we fall in and out of love with what we do. ChristopherModern has been my workshop, playground, outlet for creative (both verbal and material) expression and allowed me to meet many people with whom I now enjoy friendships, creative collaborations and very fulfilling relationships.
But it's become something very much more... a major nagging, irrepressibly demanding, child of a muse that constantly lurks in the back of my mind, most often flinging little thermonuclear guilt trips in my general direction and loudly sulking when I neglect it! And it never stays put! The idea of what it 'should' look like and 'should' provide as an outcome of my attention is difficult to nail down. However, that's what this coming year will hopefully allow. CM has been a fantastic venture so far and there are so many interesting ideas to explore.
I won't be a bore with the details of where and when ChristopherModern's early influences imprinted themselves, the unique vernacular that informs his aesthetic or the fascinating journey that was his path to this unique perspective.......blah, blah, blah! (Nor will I continue with this breathtakingly dull third-person narrative nonsense!)

What's important is what happens in the next!

After several wonderful years with Etsy so far, I've no delusions of grandeur at this point. I see shops succeed wildly and have seen others' Muse seemingly abandon them despite their best efforts. That notwithstanding, there is really no place else I've found that provides the proper care and feeding on so many level for so many dreams, ideas and aspirations. Oh... and there's nothing wrong with making enough to keep the lights on, the cats fed, coffee in the Chemex and a nice bottle of red on the table every so often!
