A Mickey Mouse clean/dirty sign broke my heart...when the suction on the back failed and it cracked into three pieces. I had just put it on my dishwasher and felt extremely content that I had solved my problem of drinking from dirty dishes. It made my great family vacation at Disney even better when I found this little sign in the gift shop.

Just as I left the kitchen to brag to my wife about my awesomeness, I hear the terrible sound of thin plastic cracking on my tile kitchen floor. It could not have been that loud but it is deafening in my memory. The dial that spins had broken off the part that held the suction. There were little shards of plastic that told me the pieces I held in my hands were now useless.
I was on my knees in front of my dishwasher and I raised my fists and wailed.

It was awesomely dramatic. At that moment I promised myself I would solve this problem for the world in a excellently designed, consistently made, and a cost effective manner. Later on, I decided that I would include excellent customer service out of spite and good business sense. This last part was way less dramatic.

UPDATE 2017:
It is ironic that my heart was broken by a failed dishwasher sign. When I updated my product to its plastic version, it had issues with the magnet on the back failing and the sign falling off. No doubt it was my hubris, thinking I had the best CDDS (clean dirty dishwasher sign) in the world that led to my eventual downfall and humiliation. Customers were now reporting that MY SIGN was causing them heartbreak. This would not do at all.
I raised my fist in the sky once more! Lightning crashed behind me and all the dogs in the neighborhood started howling with their preternatural ability to sense cosmic disturbances. There, it is done. The magnet is adhered to the sign with the strength of a thousand caterpillars on a thousand leaves. Exhausted, I crawl back into my man cave satisfied my creature was beautiful again...

UPDATE 2020:
I hope everyone is doing well. I recently saw a bunch of feedback that the new glue I was using was failing. I refunded or sent out a bunch of replacements. Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back! I now use an adhesive that needs a significant time to dry. Thumbs up emoticon!
