I come from a family with parents (and grandparents) who are artists in their own right. I grew up, I think like most kids, painting and drawing. I would doodle on the backs of my notebooks all throughout school. I never thought of that as "art", though.

After college, I decided to attend cosmetology school. All cosmetologists, make up artists, tattoo artists and the like, in my opinion, are very artistic at their core.

While I was a hair stylist I began making baby bands and wedding clips and pieces. I enjoyed it and opened my first Etsy shop "Kaleasi". Yep, I really like Game of Thrones.

After a move across the country, and saying goodbye to my clients and hair business, I started to draw again. It was pretty bad at first - ha! Then I started painting and training myself in the ways of abstract art. On one visit from my mother, she showed me zen tangles. It would be months before I looked into it myself. But once I started, I couldn't stop. So many designs I was making were just like the designs I had put on those notebook backs years ago. I started incorporating the tangles with my abstract art pieces. And behold!- Katharine Dreier Art.

My journey and experience with recovery and AA inspires a lot of my work as well.
