I started my my shop after creating a couple banners for my oldest daughters first birthday. I had shopped around on Etsy but felt I could create something similar to what I was finding in the shops, but I preferred to make everything myself. I enjoyed making the decorations for the Cat in the Hat birthday party so much I decided to open my own shop. The name "ElegantEvee" is after my oldest daughter Evelyn, since she is the reason I got started! My first sale was a Cat in the Hat name banner just like the one I had made for my daughter.
I was completing orders in my small basement and living room as the business began to grow. Even though it was summer and I was off work, this mother of two young children found it hard to keep up! My mom, dad, grandma, aunt, and cousin all began helping me to string banners and tie ribbons. I remain the only one who designs, cuts, glues, and manages the web page, but my family is truly what keeps the business going.
My workshop has moved from my small house to my parent's basement. their generosity and help has been the driving force in my shop's growth. My dad has built several modifications in the basement including an indoor ventilated spray booth which allow me to work my efficiently.
My business began as part of a mother's mission to create a handmade party for their daughter and has grown into a family affair. I owe so much to the support of my family and inspiration of my children.
