Hot iron has such a natural flow once it nears it's melting point that it invites growth, movement and a need to be free. This works perfectly for me as I have an organic aesthetic and find much satisfaction in witnessing an old chunk of steel stock transform with each blow of the hammer. I find much of my inspiration in nature, such as a hidden spiral in a broken shell or the shapes between the trees in a thick wood. Rather than try to recreate that beauty, I take from those experiences a feeling of connection to our earth and then put that energy into my work. I love collecting and using recycled materials when ever possible. I feel it plays a vital role in creating a unique piece, with a bit of built in history.
I divide my time equally working between sculptural and function pieces. I'm happy to work collectively with customers. Feel free to share any ideas you'd like to see come to fruition.
