Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here! I am Sierra, the designer behind PoppyMaven Jewelry. I am a California native and have been in the Bay Area for almost a decade now raising my beautiful family. I’m a former educator, married to the love of my life and momma to Noah (8) and Savannah (6), and I run my small business out of my home.

⋒ GROWING UP CREATIVE ⋒
I was raised in a very creative home. My mom, always an entrepreneur and my dad a maker, lover of nature and tinkerer are both artists in their own ways. I fell in love with art and design early on, and I believe that because I was homeschooled, I was able to play and create which is what I was good at.

⋒ I made and sold my first accessory at the age of 7 or 8. My mom had a cedar chest packed with material, leather, sewing stuff and baby food jars filled with beads she had left over from their hippie days when she beaded leather clothing for Native American festivals. I loved looking through them and playing with them, eventually using them in my own designs on leather!

⋒ EARLY DAYS AS AN ARTIST ⋒
Fast forward to my mid 20's. Living in Sacramento, I started playing with beads again and found a niche making these beaded stone rings under the name GranolaSoup, which I sold in a few boutiques, on Etsy and to friends and co-workers. They did really well.

⋒ I continued to play and made feather earrings, bracelets for a band I worked for and eventually fell in love with beaded earrings a few years ago.

⋒ LOVE OF BEADED EARRINGS ⋒
My mom happily came and taught me all the basics of beading with seed beads, and from there I eagerly watched as many videos and tutorials I could in order to learn how to make them myself.
⋒ In the Spring of 2019, with a lot of encouragement from friends and family, I started PoppyMaven and have been posting my designs almost daily on Instagram. I absolutely love this craft, this art! It has been such a fun way to express myself.

⋒ As a mom of 2 elementary aged kids, I appreciate having a creative outlet that I can do in my home with my kids nearby, (and sometimes doing with me). I receive so much joy in my process and I hope to be a good role model to my kids to follow their passion and create themselves!

⋒ I love using nature, art, culture, the ocean, the mountains, flora and patterns to create new and colorful designs. My intention is to always bring fresh and exciting sets to my shop that can be worn at school, on a mountain, poolside, beachside, in the office, at the fancy dinner party or at a festival!

⋒ You probably won’t see a lot of repeats or copies of the same patterns here. I aim to make all of my designs as close to one-of-kind as possible. Even with customs, I can come close to the same, but there will usually be something to make each piece unique on purpose.
