Hello and welcome to Green Garden Stamps! My name is Jessica and I’m a one-woman operation out of rural northern Connecticut. Carving stamps began as a hobby around 2009, and quickly turned into an obsession. After some time honing my carving skills and developing a steady and confident hand, I opened this shop in 2010, never imagining the success that lay ahead.
I broadly define myself as an artist, and this craft falls under that wing as well. However, painting has been my life’s main dedication, and you can see my original works for sale here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/jessicatorrant; my “print your own art prints” digital download shop is here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/livefunky. My abstract paintings are filled with raw energy and intensity. It’s a large part of who I am and I connect the “vibe” of my work to my love of music that takes your breath away, interest in deep and meaningful conversations, spiritual explorations of the soul, and intense works of art - be it painting, film or otherwise. Let’s just say that side of myself is a little “heavy”.
The lighter side of myself enjoys simple pleasures like cooking a delicious meal, laughing at the most ridiculous and goofy things, and enjoying nature in all four seasons (but most especially when green things are growing—hence my shop name). The drawings that end up as stamp designs are done from a happy, easygoing place. I’ve always enjoyed doodling designs like this; it’s just the other side of my creative coin, I suppose. The simplicity of folk art designs have always been very visually attractive to me. I am particularly drawn to Hungarian folk art, which I grew up seeing lots of thanks to my grandmother, who was also an artist. I would say my stamp designs are a combination of “pretty” and “folksy”—simple and just the right amount of sweet.
Along with my available catalog of designs, I also do custom work, which is great fun. In some cases folks have a design ready for production, but many times I work with clients to draw a new design based on their wants and needs. These custom projects are often the most rewarding work I do, knowing that the customer will have something totally unique and based on their own original idea. Please feel free to contact me if you have something in mind!
Finally I’d like to thank all of my customers throughout the years. You’ve all made something that was once a hobby a rewarding and fun full-time job. You’ve also made it possible for me to continue painting—a career that is far from predictable. The combination of these two very different creative outlets has filled out my life in a way I never could have imagined when I graduated art school.
Green Garden Stamps will keep on growing; new designs are added regularly. To get updates and special offers and coupon codes, please follow me on Facebook. Thanks!
