I started my business 12 years ago, and as I reflect on the path that has led me to where I am today, I recognize how running my own business has helped me mature, become a better person, and enhance my quality of life.
What began as a creative outlet and a self-care practice after a major health decline, Indigobird Design became not only a healing space for my soul and an outlet for creativity, but an place where I could safely experiment and learn the basics of running a business.
For me, Indigobird Design doesn’t feel like a business; an inanimate thing; a simple occupation. Rather, it feels like a best friend whose always there, rooting for you. In this space, I can have fun, take risks, succeed and fail, as well as learn and grow. This is a place where I can pour my heart into, explore my creativity, and share it with the world. I love coming to this playground of mine everyday. I love designing simple, well proportioned bags that are both beautiful and useful. To ensure my patterns are easy to follow, much of my process involves planning and research before any personal design is developed, followed by numerous samples to test materials, size, and sewing sequence. As the creative behind every aspect of my business, from design, to production, editing, and marketing, each day is a continuous learning journey, and that’s what I enjoy about it.
I am so grateful to have found an interest that allows me to be creative and share that creativity with others. At first, I wasn’t yet aware of the gratification I would receive from satisfied customers, however I soon learned that making others’ lives fun and enjoyable, even in the simplest way, is one of the most gratifying feelings I could experience.
